1. What this covers

This policy covers cookies and similar technologies used on the SFTP.cloud website at sftp.cloud.

It does not cover the SFTP.cloud service itself. Files transferred through the service never pass through a browser cookie, and the service does not use cookies to move or store your data. How we handle personal data generally is described in the Privacy Policy.

2. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets a site recognise your browser on a later page or a later visit. Some cookies are set by us, and some are set by services we use.

We also use technologies that behave like cookies, including local storage in your browser. Where this policy says cookie, it covers those as well.

3. Cookies we use

We use two kinds, and only two.

Strictly necessary cookies.

These make the website work. They keep your session running, protect forms against cross site request forgery, balance traffic across servers, and remember whether you have already answered the cookie banner. Without them, parts of the site would not function. These are set whether or not you accept anything, because the site cannot be delivered without them, and the law does not require consent for them.

Analytics cookies.

These tell us how the website is used, so we can see which pages people read, where visitors arrive from, and which pages fail to answer the question someone came with. We use Google Analytics 4 for this. These cookies are not strictly necessary, and we do not set them until you accept them.

To confirm before publishing

The exact cookie names, their expiry periods, and whether any further cookies are set by the Squarespace platform. This table should list what the site actually sets, verified in a browser, rather than what it is expected to set. Delete this note once checked.

4. Your choice

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies is set until you answer.

If you accept, we set the analytics cookies described above. If you decline, we do not, and the site works exactly as it would otherwise. Declining costs you nothing. We would rather have honest numbers from people who chose to be counted than complete numbers from people who did not.

5. Changing your mind

Your choice is not permanent. You can change it at any time through the cookie settings on this website, and you can clear cookies already set through your browser.

6. Browser controls

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most let you set different rules for different sites. Those settings sit in the privacy or security section of your browser preferences. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site working.

Some browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. Where we are required by law to treat such a signal as an opt out, we do.

7. What we do not do

We do not use advertising cookies on this website, and we do not allow third parties to use this website to build advertising profiles.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in United States state privacy laws.

We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if we change analytics provider or add a service that sets cookies. The version in force is always the one published here, with the effective date shown at the top. Where a change materially affects the cookies we set, we will ask for your choice again rather than relying on a choice you made about a different set of cookies.
